About the Religious Education Endowment Fund Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church has always valued education as a tool to foster one’s growth in knowledge, faith and prosperity. In 1985, the church solidified its commitment to providing Catholic education by establishing an endowment fund. The Religious Education Endowment Fund was established to provide financial independence to the education mission of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. The parish sponsors numerous religious education programs locally and nationwide. These programs include a parochial school with grades ranging from PK3 to 12th grade, religious education classes for students PK3 to 12th grade not attending Shiner Catholic School, spiritual retreats for youth and adults, diocesan and national youth conventions and spiritual experiences, and local theology classes for young and mature adults. Additionally, the Religious Education Endowment Fund supports parish educational ministries aimed at addressing the spiritual needs of young families, the elderly, the widowed, the sick and homebound, and others. The endowment was founded on December 31, 1985 with a personal donation of $10,000.00. The gala was the start of a "second-effort" to the fund. The first gala was held in 2005 and the endowment principal was about $425,000.00. The gala has contributed $208,400.00 to the fund which has grown to over $800,000.00. In addition to this growth in principal, $250,000.00 in earnings has funded projects of the religious education mission of the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Building on the vision of the founders of the endowment fund, the “second-effort” growth project's goal is to build the fund’s principal to $1,500,000.00 by 2015. We host a gala event annually to raise funds to meet this goal. |
